I was out and about picking up some last minute things for my trip. I came home to reminder email to check into my flight. It was very thoughtful of US Air. I logged in and click "Check In". It popped up with this cute little note telling me to call their 800 number because my flight was "out of sync". Like my dance moves? Upon calling their number I was informed that my flight from TPA to Philly was cancelled. She then told me that the next flight she could get me was on September 4th. I had a few choice words for this woman. Mostly because I was not proactively notified about the cancellation. Secondly, that my delay was not 24 or 48 hours, it was a week between when I was suppose to fly out and when I will.
I then called my travel agent. After an hour on the phone and the representative still not being able to pull up my flight I had some choice words for her as well. She called me back 30 minutes later informing the flight was booked out of their Switzerland location and that's why she couldn't pull it up. I called Switzerland, they told me it was booked out of the UK. By the time I got to the UK I had used up all my choice words and all I could do was say "Thank you" and hang up.
So my Dad told me "You've tried the stick, let's try the carrot". I called US Air back and being very nice I asked if they could book me on one of their sister (United) flights. They can't.
As it sits I will be flying out September 4th and arriving in Zurich on the 5th.
After calming down a bit I realize that I'm thankful I am sitting at my house waiting on this flight and not stuck in an airport, like many. My frustration comes from being very excited about this opportunity. However, I'm hopeful that I will get on something earlier, after things kind of shake out.
My bags are packed so as soon as I get the nod I'll be ready.
Edit: It's 11:37pm and I've been on hold for 31 minutes. I have had my call dropped THREE times, but I assure you, I will be nice to the rep. I have heard far too much about traveling to Israel. Anger does not even begin to explain how I feel. Rage.
